THE STRUGGLE OF GETTING BACK TO SCHOOL AMIDST A PANDEMIC

This week children across Kenya will be going back to school. This is usually a sobering week for everyone right after the pomp that accompanies the Christmas festivities. This year, due to employment disruptions caused by COVID-19, many households in Kariobangi are facing difficulties preparing their children to go back to school.

Children have outgrown their school uniform and shoes and need new ones. They also need notebooks, pencils, crayons and other school supplies. Many households can’t afford this things as they struggled with putting food on the table during the pandemic, let alone celebrating the festivities.

Every year Hands of Love school supports our families to prepare their children for school. We have done this by providing all our students with a new pair of school shoes.

We also provide learning resources such as notebooks, textbooks, pencils and crayons which take off a huge burden off the parents.

As schools reopen this week, this support to families will be even more critical. You can help us help our families prepare their children for school.

  • $30 will provide a child with a new school uniform (pants, two shirts, a sweater, and track suits)
  • $25 will provide a child with a new pair of leather shoes.
  • Lastly, for just $365 you can send a child to our school for the whole year.
